NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D (2006)
Starring: BRIANNA BROWN, JOSHUA DESROCHES, AND SID HAIG
Directed by: Jeff Broadstreet

If there was ever a film made that lived up to it's hype, it's Night Of The Living Dead 3D. I have seen many a 3D film back when it had it's resurgences in the 80's, using those stupid cardboard glasses, but this film is shot in "Natural 3D", which means you don't need to use glasses to enjoy the 3D effect. I watched it on my 46" Plasma LCD TV and it looked great.
Now for film itself. It is
both an homage and a retelling of the original story, keeping all of the
character's names, but giving us a deliberate reason for the zombie plague.
It starts, of course, with Barbara and Johnnie traveling a far distance to
attend their
aunt's funeral. When they arrive there is no one there, though the casket
has not been dropped into the ground. Johnny goes to his car to see what's
going on when he attacked, but he appears to escape in his car.
Barbara confronts a few zombies before she runs into the mortuary's owner Gerald Tovar, Jr. (Sid Haig), who tell Barbara she need not worry about anything. He is saying this as he is calling corpses by name to calm down. So Barbara runs into the woods and is attacked by zombies, but is saved by a man on a motorcycle (Ben) who takes her to a friends house nearby. When she tell her tale, everyone of course thinks she's crazy until the dead come a knockin'.
NOTLD 3D gives you a rather original retelling of the story, with minimal gore effects. There are a few gut munching scenes for the camera, but director Broadstreet uses other means to show off the 3D effects.
There is one comical scene.
When Barbara is taken to Ben's friends house and they don't believe her, she
goes into the living room and walks past the TV which is showing the
original NOTLD, and she does a great double take.
