CURSE OF THE VAMPIRES (1966)
Starring: EDDIE GARCIA, ROMEO VASQUEZ, AMALIA FUENTES
Directed by: GERARDO DE LEON

If you were lucky enough to grow up during the late 60's thru the 70's drive-in era, when they showed triple horror features. often films given new titles and reissued, then you were lucky to see films such as "Curse Of The Vampire".
Made by the director of the
popular "Blood Island" series, it is your typical dubbed Philippine horror
film. A dying father confides to his children that their mother, who they
thought died years ago, is actually chained in the basement because she is a
vampire.
Of course with logic lacking, cast members get to close and are bitten, thus starting a vampire plague thru the local town.
The "special effects" consist of a red tint each time the mother is on screen. And is it me, but I know lots of vampire films take liberty on what vampires can and cannot do, but not being able to see their reflection is usually consistent. Not here. When the son is bitten and turns, he feels the fangs growing in his mouth, and goes to the mirror and see he's a vampire.
Schlock, yes it is. Cheesy, you bet. But I would take 10 of these films to any one of the new vampire films issued today, and I am speaking for entertainment value. The dubbing is poor, camera work, forget about it, but it takes you back to a past when these films ruled the theaters. An era long gone, but hopefully, by purchasing films such as these, we can keep the feeling alive forever.
You can purchase "Curse Of The Vampires" thru HORROR THEATER VIDEO.
