Horror Theater Video insecticidal film review

Well, Fangoria Magazine's video line has finally delivered a winner. "Insecticidal" has it all; great looking girls, giant bugs, lesbians with huge jugs making out, giant bugs, girls masturbating, giant bugs, girls turning into bug monsters, and of course GIANT BUGS!!!

The plot is thin and simple; a sorority house is having a hot tub party. One of the house girls, Cami who of course is a brain, is experimenting with bugs. Not just any bugs; but genetically altered bugs. The house bitch, Josi, is having sex with her football boyfriend when a scorpion just happens to walk through her room and into the vent. So she goes to Cami's room with a can of bug spray and kills all the bugs. But, due to their generic mutation, instead of dying, they do what? A) get up and dance; B) Slap the bitch Josi in the face or C) grow to enormous size. If you guessed A or B you don't deserve to be watching horror films, so sign off, they grow to ENORMOUS sizes. Praying Mantis, Scorpion, Tarantula, even a Dung Beetle (if you don't know what a Dung Beetle is look them up).

The bugs go on to kill most of the kids, catching them either having sex, showering, or masturbating. Some of the death scenes have to be seen to be believed, so I won't spoil them for you.

You can call Insecticidal the first soft-core, giant mutated bug film, since there seems to be as much sex as there are giant bugs. Gore fans will be happy with the delightful way the bugs take care of the naked actors, especially the masturbator who had climbed a tree to peek in a window (see I told you). The funniest being a pizza delivery boy opening the meat lovers pizza box and getting ripped apart by a giant beetle that is inside.

There's no great acting here and the special effects go from good to really dreadful, but this film is entertaining, gory, and if hate bugs, it will give you the creeps.

The DVD has hardly any extras, just the trailer for the film.
