The fabulous 50's. What a grand time for horror films. Spending warm nights at the drive-in seeing double features featuring films like "Frankenstein's Daughter".

You have your typical father scientist who works at home in the basement. He hires an assistant named Oliver Frank, not knowing his real last name is Frankenstein.

Oliver, along with his long time assistant Carter, performs experiments for reanimating dead bodies in the lab when the professor is sleeping. What they create is an ugly face monster in a shiny silver suit. Also for kicks, Oliver lusts after the professors daughter, Trudy, who has a boyfriend played by none other than John Ashley.

Since Trudy spurs his advances, Oliver spikes her drinks and at night she prowls the streets as a crusty faced, bulged-eyed monster. The only apparent reason for this in the film is just to scare 50's "kids" (they all look over 30) while they are making out.

At 85 minutes, Frankenstein's Daughter is rather long for this type of film. The acting is typical, over-aged actors playing kids, the typical 50's music number numbers, watching the kids swing by the pool.

You can do much worse than Frankenstein's Daughter, believe me many turkeys were released during this period. But if you watch it for kicks on a warm night, it's not so bad. Just watching stone faced John Ashley in his 50's era is worth the time.
