When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth, again.
Directed by: Zach Snyder
REVIEW IS FOR THE UNRATED DIRECTORS CUT
RUNNING TIME: 109 minutes

This review will not be a debate of which version is the best. Film styles and life styles were different in 1978 than 2004. There will be no debating if zombies should be slow moving, clumsy walkers or cannibalistic runners. This is an overview of the 2004 version.
If you have been hiding under a rock for the past 30 years, please note the SPOILER WARNING.
If your any kind of exploit fan, you know the drill. Some unknown force are causing the dead to rise, and if you are bitten or scratched by them, you turn into one.
In short, the 2004 has much more action, better effects, and a much better story line. Others look too much into the 1978 version's story line on materialism. There is no plot for materialism; they simply decided to live in a mall and use what was there to live, period. The 1978 version, starts off strong, has a long gap of little to no action, and ends very strong.
The 2004 version is action packed, exciting, and keeps you on the end of your seat. There are more characters in this version, each with different personalities, especially the character of "AJ" who looks like a hick guard when first seen, but ends up sacrificing himself for the sake of others in the end.
This review is for the Unrated Directors Cut which contains over 9 minutes cut from the theatrical print, and they are a great 9 minutes. They have extended gore scenes, gore scenes that were cut, and a more gruesome scene with the zombie baby.
The DVD is packed with extras. Deleted scenes which answers some questions on the characters, but would have slowed down the action, behind the scenes on making the film, make-up, and much more. The most amusing thing I found out was the fat woman that came from the truck all bitten, was actually a man in a latex suit, and the difficulty they had doing that scene.
This film is jammed packed with everything a exploit fan could want. Watch it as a separate movie without comparisons to the original, don't eat before you watch, and have a great time.
MY RATING-
1/2
